Ensures access to acupuncturist services through the Department of Veterans Affairs for treating conditions including opioid-induced constipation, chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, stress, mental health, and symptoms of traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Updated last June 20, 2017
for the 06/08/2017 version of HR 2838.
What it does

HR 2838, the Acupuncture for Our Heroes Act, would ensure access to acupuncturist services through the Department of Veterans Affairs. This would require qualified acupuncturists to be able to treat conditions like opioid-induced constipation, chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, stress, mental health, and symptoms of traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder.

A similar bill, the Acupuncture for Heroes and Seniors Act of 2017 (HR 2839, 115th Congress), would provide similar services as would HR 2839, but would also enable individuals on Medicare to receive such services.
