What it does 

S 64 and the identical S 92, amending the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (21 U.S.C. 301 et seq.), direct the US Food and Drug Administration to promulgate regulations to allow for the personal importation of prescription drugs from approved pharmacies in Canada.

These bills are textually identical to the Safe and Affordable Drugs from Canada Act of 2015 (HR 2228, 114th Congress) (SciPol brief available.)


S 64 was introduced to the Senate on January 9, 2017, and S 92 was introduced on January 10, 2017. Both bills were referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions on their respective dates of introduction.
